IT Professional + MS Office Training Overview

The IT Professional + Microsoft Office program provides students with the skills they need to prepare them for a career in this rapidly growing field. Office Admins perform a variety of clerical and administrative duties that are necessary to run an organization efficiently. Very often, this position requires the professional admin to troubleshoot hardware and configure computer systems. They use computer software to create spreadsheets, manage databases, and prepare presentations, reports, and documents. They also may negotiate with vendors, buy supplies, and manage stockrooms or corporate libraries.

Courses should include:

  • Microsoft Office® This course focuses upon using Microsoft Word® to create documents from templates, work with tables and charts, customize documents, create templates, and perform mail merging. The course also introduces the PowerPoint® features including adding images, videos, and sound to a presentation, customizing design templates, adding SmartArt and audio to a presentation. Next, students expand their knowledge of Microsoft Excel® to create formulas, functions, and using formatting tools, managing worksheets and workbooks, and customizing the excel environment. Finally, students are introduced to cloud computing and productivity applications. This course helps participants prepare to sit for the Microsoft Office® Specialist (MOS) Certification in Microsoft Word®, PowerPoint®, and Excel®.

  • Microsoft Excel® : This course focuses on using Excel® software to introduce the basic features and move on to intermediate features and ending with more advanced features. Foundational components of the software used to create spreadsheets are reviewed, and the learner will be able to perform common tasks. Intermediate functions include creating formulas, using formatting tools, managing worksheets and workbooks, and customizing the excel environment. Advanced features include more advanced formulas and working with What-If Analysis. This course helps participants prepare to sit for the Microsoft Office® Specialist Certification in Excel.

  • Microsoft Access® : This course is designed to teach and acquaint learners with the proper procedures to create Microsoft Access® databases that are suitable for coursework, professional purposes, and personal use. Students focus include relational database concepts as well as the utilization of many features and techniques that make Access® a valuable software tool to retrieve, change and store data as needed. Topics also include graphical user interface, creating tables, and inputting data into and work with data in multiple tables. This course helps prepare participants to sit for the Microsoft Office® Specialist (MOS) Certification exam in Access.
